ROYAL NIGER COMPANY STRONGLY OBJECTS TO THE “TRANSFER” OF URHOBO COUNTRY FROM ITS SPHERE TO NIGER COAST PROTECTORATE, 1899



Sir George Goldie’s Royal Niger Company had been operating in Urhobo country, principally in its waterways, since its Charter in 1886. In this document, it objects to the incorporation of this territory into the Niger Coast Protectorate, formed by the British in 1891.
