I am directed to acknowledge receipt of your petition on the above mentioned subject dated 8th July, 1986 and to inform you that all the points raised therein have been noted. I am however to re-iterate that government, whether at the Federal, State or Local government level exists to protect the rights of all its citizens irrespective of tribe creed or other considerations. In this connection, I am to assure yo of Government’s continued protection of your interests at al times.

Matters even got worse after the receipt of the above letter, because when the Rates Assessment Appeal Trubunal was appointed a few weeks after its membership of three was all Itsekiri.
